My 2 Cents Are Priceless: Let Me See Some ID, Sir...

In this new age of progressive productivity, there are many new & different issues we have to deal with as a society. In a post-9/11 America, one of the biggest issues is national security. The “War On Terror” got a multitude of American citizens looking over their shoulder & keeping their eyes open for the next attack. These “terrorists” are affecting dam near every foreign policy & national security legislation that makes it to the floor of our congressional floors. One of the issues which were a hot-button discussion amongst representatives was the issue of National ID cards.

If you ask me, we don’t need a National ID CARD. We have enough forms of identification already! School, work, driver’s license, passports (which already includes the RFID chip in newly issued American ones), social security numbers, and government-funded programs that require a process of protocol to prevent forgery & falsification of documents. Foreigners are the primary threat in post-9/11 America. So training local, state & federal law enforcement officials on new security procedures should be a top priority. One can make the argument that this is being done. However, the next step shouldn’t be passing legislation which violates our Bill Of Rights. That’s taking the easy way out, along with neglecting the God-given rights of the American people. It can also be viewed as a covert tactic for some of the power-hungry figures behind the curtain to obtain some of the unconstitutional authority to create a society in which the minority can rule over the majority.

National IDs are claimed to be no different than state IDs. Nevertheless, a potential national ID would contain a computer chip that matches the fingerprint of the recipient. The Real ID Act of 2005 specifically states policies pertaining to updated national security protocol post-9/11, that by May of 2008, all US citizens will be required to carry this form of identification around, which include a barcode with all the personal information of the recipient. In conjunction to the Real ID Act, in 2004, the Food & Drug Administration approved radio frequency identification chips (RFID) to be used for ID verification, access to medical records & other personal data which may be useful to whoever needs access to this information. The chips work by use of radio frequency, which tracks the every move of the card holder. These two events aren’t coincidental. Outside of the medical field, the only other profession that is expected to require access to this info is law enforcement & civil services. Combine these ID cards with the unconstitutional Patriot Act, and you have a recipe for a democratic police state.

Pending political backlash & public outrage, this has been written law that has been kept quiet for the past few years, explaining why the May 2008 deadline has come & gone without a majority of our citizens knowing this or willingly cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security (unless you’ve been issued a passport or a ID from the DMV in the past year & a half). Maybe they understand that the American people aren’t as dumb as they thought. Common sense tells any US citizen who know their rights that a federal ID is more than likely to lead to more invasive actions that will invade the privacy of most, if not all American citizens. It’ll be done all in the name of national security. The understanding that terrorists will stop at nothing to commit heinous acts against America is only a scare tactic used by warmongering politicians to instill fear in the masses & convince them to forget their constitutional rights.
